Resumo:
A prospective analysis of 40 patients submited to bariatric surgery between 2007 and 2008was made to study the effects of surgery between insulin resistance, the glycemia, colesterol and its fractions, triglycerides values and the metabolic syndrome association. The patients were divided in two groups, where the first one with 30 patients who had normal glycemic values (NG group) and the second one with 10 patients who had insulin resistance (RI group). The groups’ follow-up was made on the third and sixth months. In both groups the BMI decreased 30% among with glycemia, insulin, cholesterol and its fractions and triglycerides values. The insulin resistance was significantly reduced on the third month on RI group compared with the NG group, but the abdominal circumference decrease more on this group after 3 months. The metabolic syndrome decreased 40% on RI group and 6,6% on NG group. Conclusion: Bariatric surgery was benefical in both groups. All parameters used on this study (cholesterol its fractions, triglycerides, glycemia, insulin and the metabolic syndrome association) had a significant decrease on the follow-up 3 and 6 months postoperative in both groups.
