As the problems triggered by sexual abuse can go beyond the physical damage and reverberate throughout the life and health of the person assaulted, we have set a serious mental health problem that affects the whole society. This work aims to describe the characteristics of cases of sexual assault, seen at PROPAZ of Belém, Pará, in 2010, involving children and teenagers aged up to 14 years, a total of 1076 victims in situations of sexual violence, in order to identidy epidemiological data of the perpetrator, crime data, describe the findings of physical examination, assess the main hazards arising from this abuse, and identify the time between the alleged assault and demand for health services. This is a prospective, descriptive, cross­sectional study that utilized social and medical welfare charts of the PROPAZ. A statistical analysis was performed to adequate assess the significance of the values found. We used the statistical software Bioestat 5.0 for statistical tests and Excel (Microsoft Windows Officee 2003) for the construction of graphs and tables. The statistical tests applied were: Mann­Whitney and G Test. When assessing the background of minors treated at PROPAZ, one can observe that the city of Bethlehem is the onde with the higher prevalence of cases (52.6%). The girls led the service statistics in the category of sexual abuse (78.8%) and highest incidence rate age group was from 12 to 14 years with 31.4%. The results showed that domestic violence is very significant, since among the main perpetrators are the father, other relatives and stepfather. It was observed that most victims did not receive the required prophylaxis 807 (75.0%), and only 34 (3.2%) cases it was properly done. 45 (5.3%) of the acts of sexual violence had positive pregnancy tests. The results emphasize the need to implement public policies from the compr ehensive public engagement of society and government, aimed at both the expansion of the services provided to victims of abuse, and at the recognition of the seriousness of the situation, which must be combated and, above all, prevented. A violência sexual contra crianças e adolescentes é um fenômeno complexo e de difícil enfrentamento, inserido num contexto histórico­social de violência endêmica e com profundas raízes culturais. Como os problemas desencadeados pela violência sexual podem ir muito além dos danos físicos e repercutirem por toda a vida e saúde da pessoa violentada, temos configurado um grave problema de saúde mental que afeta todo o conjunto da sociedade. Assim, este trabalho objetiva descrever características dos casos de crime sexual, atendidos no PROPAZ de Belém do Pará, no ano de 2010, envolvendo crianças e adolescentes na faixa etária até 14 anos, perfazendo um total de 1076 crianças e adolescentes em situação de violência sexual, visando identificar dados epidemiológicos do agressor, assim como identificar dados do crime, descrever os achados do exame físico, avaliar os principais agravos decorrentes deste abuso, além de identificar o tempo entre a agressão alegada e a procura pelo serviço de saúde. Trata­se de um estudo prospectivo, do tipo descritivo, transversal, em que foram utilizados os prontuários sociais e médico ­ assistenciais do PROPAZ. Foi realizada uma análise estatística adequada para avaliar a significância dos valores encontrados. Utilizou­se o software estatístico Bioestat 5.0 para aplicação dos testes estatísticos e o Excel (Microsoft Windows Officee 2003) para a construção dos gráficos e tabelas. Aplicaram­se como testes estatísticos: Mann –Whitney e o Teste G. Quando se avaliou a procedência dos menores atendidos no PROPAZ, pode se observar que a cidade de Belém é a que apresenta maior prevalência de casos (52,6%). As meninas lideraram as estatísticas de atendimento na categoria de abuso sexual (78,8%) e com maior índice a faixa etária dos 12 aos 14 anos com 31,4%. Os resultados evidenciaram que a violência intra­familiar é bastante significativa, uma vez que entre os principais agressores estão o pai, outros parentes e o padrasto. Observou­se que a maioria das vítimas não recebeu a profilaxia necessária 807 (75,0%), e somente em 34 (3,2%) casos esta foi devidamente realizada. 45 (5,3%) dos atos de violência sexual apresentaram resultado confirmado de gravidez.
