The present article proposes to evaluate the applicability of the use of black bean extract as a pH indicator in methodological practices in the teaching of Chemistry, having as main objective to arouse interest in the use of natural indicators as a alternative methodological tool for transmitting chemical concepts in countryside schools. It was a quantitative-qualitative research, with a bibliographical and experimental, governed by the observation and applicability of a semi-structured questionnaire and the methodological practice of this experiment to the students of the 9th year of elementary school and the 1st year of high school at the School Municipality Odil Pontes. Initially, tests were carried out with the black bean extract to evaluate its performance as a natural indicator based on other research already carried out on the subject, such as the red cabbage extract. It was observed that the extract presents a dark blue hue that varies to red color with the addition of acid and to greenish to a yellowish color with addition of base. After analysis of comparative data, it was found possible to use it for transmission of concepts related to chemical equilibrium, titration and the law of Lambert-Beer. In addition, the application of this methodology in practical classes proved to be effective in stimulating student learning through the approximation of the content with the experience of the field student. |
