INTRODUCTION: The riverside populations mostly reside in rural areas, generally surrounded and/or surrounded by rivers and lakes that make up the territory of the Amazon. The daily lives of these populations end up suffering a strong influence and dependence on rivers, which is the reason for the periods of flood and drought that occur in the Amazon. The Amazon has two types of forests with great importance for its floodplain forests, characterized by their frequent flooding, and terra firme forests, which do not suffer from flooding. PURPOSE: To evaluate the effect of ecological factors on macronutrient intake of men and women riparian in the Middle Solimões, comparing diets in the dry and flood periods in floodplain and terra firme communities. METHODOLOGY: The studied communities are located in the middle Solimões in the state of Amazonas. The field was held in 2015 between May and July and October to December. The total sample number of this project consists of 243 people, data were collected through semistructured interviews, referring to food, through the 24-hour recall method. Five days of recalls were carried out during the flood and drought periods. The recalls were analyzed and their data were organized in Excel spreadsheets. Data on food (macronutrients, quantities, consumption and recipes) were organized and stored in the Nutritionist Pro software. RESULTS: The male vs. female ratio was significant for the 3 macronutrients (PTN, CHO and LIP), while the floodplain vs. land ratio firm showed significance for carbohydrates, in both sexes in the flood, and men in the flood, the lipids had significance in both sexes in the flood, and women in the flood, in the dry x flood ratio, the significant results were in proteins with the male sex, and in carbohydrates, also in males. CONCLUSION: In summary, further studies are needed to corroborate the results found in this work, however, the significant results that were obtained add even more to the literature with new data, and on the need to study this population, and pay attention to for the nutritional risks in which they are affected.
