Resumo:
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a recessive hereditary disease that interferes with the neuromotor development of muscles, affecting the development of the upper and lower limbs in the performance of daily physical activities. Among the characteristic alterations of DMD we can mention those of systemic character such as: overweight, gastric alterations, tachycardia, osteoporosis, respiratory failure and arterial hypertension. Objective: To expose the clinical profile of a patient with DMD and the most appropriate forms of action of the dentist in the face of various systemic diseases that such individuals may present during treatment. Method: To describe, through a clinical experience report, the profile of a 12-yearold child with DMD, explaining the care in dental management. Results With the case report presented, the importance of using medications as preventive methods to prevent systemic diseases is verified, in addition to a correct approach to multidisciplinary treatment. Conclusion: The recognition of possible systemic and functional changes that patients with DMD may present with the objective of acting in the best way in the treatment is of great relevance.
