OBJECTIVE: To describe the lived experience of occupational therapeutic practices in an extension project with university students with suspected or diagnosed mental illness. METHODOLOGY: It is a work of qualitative approach and it is an experience report covering the practices lived through an extension project carried out in a university located in the city of Belém, where it covered the period between March and December of 2017. The study's target audience was composed of eight undergraduate students from a university in the city of Belém. The report aims to describe the performance of Occupational Therapy in the area of mental health aimed at the university student who presented a sickness mental. As instruments used for the collection of information, the following construction was carried out: Diário de Campo, Reception Form, Occupational Therapeutic Assessment Form in Mental Health and Occupational Therapeutic Plan. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The experience in the extension project allowed a significant amount of experiences during its development. Different strategies were developed for the development of actions. The initial strategy consisted of the active search, where activities of dissemination about the project and the importance of attention to mental health were carried out. The process was initiated by the reception of the university, where the clarification and the collection of information pertinent to the definition of the occupational profile of the participant was carried out. When identified problems in occupational performance related to a mental illness, it was referred to the Occupational Therapy Evaluation in Mental Health, with the purpose of identifying demands and the occupational history of the student. Related aspects were identified during the visits to students regarding self-esteem, social interaction and occupational routine. Based on the information gathered, an intervention plan was developed, defining objectives and proposals for approaches and techniques that could be used. However, although there is currently a significant amount of research aimed at the university student, a small amount of research was found relating the actions of occupational therapeutics to the university environment. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: The actions developed by the project showed the relevance of the offer of services directed to university students. It also highlights the importance of raising awareness and clarifying the importance of mental health care and broadening the discussion of the issue. INTRODUÇÃO: O estudante universitário vivencia diferentes situações durante sua experiência acadêmica, e quando fatores externos ou internos ao ambiente universitário desencadeiam um processo de adoecimento mental, esta circunstância pode ocasionar problemáticas para o seu desempenho ocupacional. OBJETIVO: Relatar a experiência vivenciada de práticas terapêuticas ocupacionais em um projeto de extensão junto a estudantes universitários com suspeita ou diagnóstico de adoecimentos mental. METODOLOGIA: Constitui-se de um trabalho de abordagem qualitativa e trata-se de um relato de experiência abrangendo as práticas vivenciadas por meio de um projeto de extensão realizado em uma universidade localizada no município de Belém, onde abrangeu o período entre março e dezembro de 2017. O público-alvo da pesquisa foi composto por oito estudantes de graduação de uma universidade do município de Belém. O relato se propõe a descrever a atuação da Terapia Ocupacional na área da saúde mental voltada para o estudante universitário que apresentasse um quadro de adoecimento mental. Como instrumentos empregados para a coleta de informações, realizou-se a construção dos seguintes: Diário de Campo, Ficha de acolhimento, Ficha de Avaliação Terapêutica Ocupacional em Saúde Mental e Plano Terapêutico Ocupacional. RESULTADOS E DISCUSSÃO: A experiência no projeto de extensão possibilitou uma quantidade significativa de experiências vivenciadas durante o seu desenvolvimento. Realizou-se diferentes estratégias para o desenvolvimento das ações. A estratégia inicial consistiu-se na busca ativa, onde foram realizadas atividades de divulgação sobre o projeto e a importância da atenção à saúde mental. O processo iniciava-se pelo acolhimento do universitário, onde realizava-se o esclarecimento e o levantamento de informações pertinentes para a definição do perfil ocupacional do participante. Quando identificadas problemáticas no desempenho ocupacional relacionadas a um quadro de adoecimento mental, este era encaminhado para a realização da Avaliação Terapêutica Ocupacional em Saúde Mental, com o objetivo de identificar demandas e o histórico ocupacional do estudante. Aspectos relacionados foram identificados durante os atendimentos aos estudantes quanto a autoestima, a interação social e a rotina ocupacional. Com base nas informações recolhidas, realizava-se a construção de um plano de intervenção, definindo objetivos e propostas de abordagens e técnicas que poderiam ser empregadas. Contudo, apesar de haver atualmente uma quantidade relevante de pesquisas voltadas para o estudante universitário, encontrou-se um quantitativo reduzido de pesquisas relacionando as ações de terapêuticas ocupacionais com o ambiente universitário. CONSIDERAÇÕES FINAIS: As ações desenvolvidas pelo projeto mostraram a relevância da oferta de atendimentos voltados aos estudantes universitários.
