This work aims to develop a proposal of urban design guidelines for the
Reduto neighborhood, in the city of Belém (PA), as part of the
development of the built space. For such, were sought: theoretical
references on the formation of urban space and the qualities expected
from this element; the comprehension of how such space works
through the systematization of a neighborhood's panorama,
constituting the historical trajectory of socio-spatial transformations that
occurred in the area. Also, the analysis of the urban morphology was
made, such as a diagnosis of the current physical conditions of the
neighborhood. From this, it was possible to elaborate the urban design
guidelines, with objectives and recommendations that aim to improve
the qualities of the urban space of the area, improving the usage
conditions of the area. Finally, the urgency of rethinking urban space
planning is understood, aiming at the long-term future and assisting all
social groups, not only meeting the momentary needs of specific social
layers.
