It is known that many people don’t remember and are aware the Water Tower and its history. Therefore, this work intents to recover part of these memories, reassuring and reinforcing the presence of the Water Tower in the collective memory of the city, since it has already disappeared physically from the city’s landscape. Kevin Lynch's “Points of Interest” and concepts from the historical art-theorist Vitor Serrão were used to understand the relationship of the population towards the presence and subsequently absence of the Reservoir in the city, in contrast of the Water Tower in its collective memory Este trabalho buscou estudar o Reservatório Paes de Carvalho em diversos aspectos, não apenas em suas estruturas visíveis, funcionais, iconográficas, e históricas, mas no seu caráter simbólico e o papel destas na formação da memória afetiva da cidade de Belém. Observou-se que poucas pessoas lembram e conhecem a Caixa D’Água e sua história. Portanto, este trabalho pretende resgatar parte destas memórias, corroborando para a permanência e reforço da Caixa D’Água na memória coletiva da cidade, posto que dos olhos já sumiu.
