Resumo:
This article is part of a survey carried out by the research group on the History of Children's Education in the Pará Amazon, in 2019 to 2022, and discusses the educational service for Early Childhood in the municipality of Abaetetuba, from 1970 to 1990. The research aims to analyze early childhood education in the municipality, with a view to creating a space that went through different identifications until it was institutionalized as a school. In this way, the research was demarcated between 1970, when the Cocoons were implanted, to 1990, with the creation of the Statute of the Child and the Adolescent (1990) law 8.069/90. The research is qualitative and uses documentary sources and oral narratives to produce data, as well as bibliography. In this sense, we seek to interpret, through analysis of printed sources and preserved memories of people who were inserted in the context and who contributed to the understanding of the process of identification of the space that was called Kindergarten, passing to Casulo until being called Nair Lima Municipal School of Early Childhood Education. To provide a theoretical basis, we used authors who collaborate in the fields of memory use, such as early childhood education, childhood history and institutions, such as Nora (1993), Ferreira (1979), Freitas (2003), Veiga (2005), among others. The results of this investigation point out that in the period between 1970 and 1990, the care of children in kindergarten was marked by assistance organized by the Legião Brasileira de Assistência Social (LBA), through the Casulo Project, characterized as a compensatory education and focused on discussions about health and hygiene, rather than education, until at least the 1990s.
