From Andre Breton's Surrealist Manifesto, the artistic movement developed not only in painting, but also in film and other arts. In comics, this art appears, above all, in the visual aesthetics of comics by Neil Gaiman, Dave Mckean, Mike Dringenberg and Malcom Jones III. Surrealism brings up the unconscious and its oneiric manifestations that involve the theme of madness, the irrational and the grotesque. In the comic strip Sandman, insane madness under the influence of surrealist paintings is mixed with visual terror. In this course completion work, we analyze the comic entitled "Waiting for the end of the world", by Neil Gaiman and Dave Mckean, published in 1991 by DC Comics. The central objective is, based on surrealist aesthetics, an interpretative reading of the relations between sequential art, dream and terror. O Surrealismo nasce como um movimento pautado em teorias psicanalíticas advindos das teorias de Sigmund Freud. A partir do Manifesto Surrealista de Andre Breton, o movimento artístico se desenvolveu não apenas na pintura, mas também no cinema e outras artes. Nos quadrinhos, a referida arte surge, sobretudo, na estética visual dos quadrinhos de Neil Gaiman, Dave Mckean, Mike Dringenberg e Malcom Jones III. O Surrealismo traz à tona o inconsciente e suas manifestações oníricas que envolvem o tema da loucura, do irracional e do grotesco. Na história em quadrinhos Sandman, a loucura insana sob a influência das pinturas surrealistas surge mesclada ao terror visual. No presente Trabalho de conclusão de curso, analisamos o quadrinho intitulado "Esperando o fim do mundo", de Neil Gaiman e Dave Mckean, publicado em 1991 pela DC Comics.
