Resumo:
This work presents a detailed analysis of granular flow in a wagon tippler shoe conveyor using the Discrete Element Method (DEM). Four types of materials were investigated: concentrated fine iron ore from the Serra Sul mine (FCSS), iron ore sinter feed from the Carajás mine (SFCK), 14% manganese concentrate (MF14), and iron ore pellet feed from the Carajás mine (PFCJ). The main objective was to evaluate the degree of blockage in the wagon tippler chute in the grid region and seek solutions to improve the flow. The results revealed that manganese and pellet feed were the materials that presented the greatest blockage problems. As a corrective measure, modifications were made to the equipment, including changes to the wagon tippler transfer chute and the grid. This paper highlights the methodology used for the flow analysis in this equipment and the criteria adopted in the design of the modifications. The obtained results provide valuable insights into the granular behavior during the flow process and contribute to the optimization of the performance of the granular material transport system.
