In this perspective, the present work aims to analyze how teachers understand the role of language in teaching and learning of mathematics in elementary school. The theoretical foundation that supports this study is based on the theories of different theorists who discuss the theme. For the proper development of the research with a qualitative approach the field research was carried out using as data collection instrument an electronic questionnaire applied to teachers working in the final years of elementary school. In general terms, it is understood that communication and language are essential for human beings and that mathematical language is a key element for understanding this important area of knowledge just as it is important educators aware of his role of mediators in the teaching and learning of mathematical content, make interventions and discuss with the student’s possible mistakes in the language effectively contributing to the improvement of understanding of mathematical concepts. A linguagem matemática é uma ferramenta muito importante na construção do conhecimento matemático. As dificuldades enfrentadas pelos estudantes diante da complexidade no processo de escrita e entendimento podem prejudicar sua relação com a disciplina de matemática. Nessa perspectiva, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo analisar de que forma os professores compreendem a função da linguagem no ensino e na aprendizagem da Matemática no Ensino Fundamental. A fundamentação teórica que sustenta este estudo está embasada nas teorias de diferentes teóricos que discutem a temática. Para o desenvolvimento adequado da pesquisa de enfoque qualitativo foi realizada a pesquisa de campo utilizando como instrumento de coleta de dados um questionário eletrônico aplicado a docentes atuantes nos Anos Finais do Ensino Fundamental. Em linhas gerais, entende-se que a comunicação e linguagem são essenciais para o ser humano e que a linguagem matemática é elemento primordial para a compreensão dessa importante área do conhecimento assim como é importante educadores cientes do papel de mediadores no ensino e na aprendizagem de conteúdos matemáticos, façam intervenções e discutam com os estudantes possíveis equívocos na linguagem contribuindo eficazmente para a melhoria da compreensão dos conceitos matemáticos. 2023-09-19T13:56:31Z 2023-09-19T13:56:31Z 2022-11-30 Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso - Graduação GONSAGA, Suelen Sacramento.
