Physical phenomena happen daily around us, and the vast majority of them are modeled
by partial differential equations, which shows us the importance of studying these phenomena
and simulating computationally to better understand how they materialize. The bibliographic
research studied to carry out this work provides a better understanding of this area of applied
mathematics. This work studies the simulation of heat diffusion in a two-dimensional medium. For this,
a brief study of partial differential equations will be made, followed by Taylor’s serial
expansions, Euler’s method, and the finite difference method to obtain the approximations, and
then discretize these approximations and replace in the heat diffusion equation. Finally, in
Matlab we will first propagate the heat in one dimension and then propagate the heat in two
dimensions, to observe the diffusion behavior and obtain the numerical results in both cases. |
