The participation of women in family farming is common in various productive activities. However, women are not seen as autonomous and independent individuals, but as helpers to their husbands in the activities carried out in production systems. Through participation in associative organizations, women have gained visibility and recognition. The aim of this text is to present the case of building female protagonism through the Association of Quilombola Agroextractivist Women - Raízes do Bacuri, from the Ramal do Bacuri Quilombola Community, located in the municipality of Abaetetuba, Pará. The research was carried out in the community in question during three supervised internships on the Agroecology Technology course at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Abaetetuba Campus. Therefore, it was found that female protagonism is strengthened through associations, where they achieve autonomy, collective benefits and encouragement to continue the struggle to remain in their territory.
