This space has been developing the Housing Policy in the municipality since 2009 through the execution of the Housing Programs My House My Urban and Rural Life, Housing of Social Interest and Housing Check, and aims at the equation of the housing deficit in the municipality and the promotion of better housing conditions for residents. Based on this premise, this study aims to describe how the Housing Policy is instituted in Abaetetuba, as well as to point out the situational situation of housing, precarious settlements, their social effects and spatial implications in the municipality. The aim was to analyze the advances obtained and the difficulties faced for the institutionalization of the housing policy in the municipality, the implemented Housing Programs and if there was an equation in the housing deficit of the municipality since the implementation of this policy in the municipality. To achieve these objectives, the methodology of qualitative research was used, through a survey of bibliographic references and documentary research in the Housing Space of the municipality. There were also interviews with municipal management, technical staff and the Housing Space Coordination of Abaetetuba. As a result of the research it was noticed that the housing policy has developed in a fragmentary way since its institutionalization in the municipality and its effectiveness has not reached the objectives and general principles of the national housing policy, causing social reflexes, segregation, irregular occupations, absence urban mobility, environmental degradation and improvisational urban development. There is no Municipal Housing Council and no Municipal Housing Plan. It should be noted that in addition to the partial institutionalization of housing policy in the municipality, the professionals involved face other setbacks in its effectiveness, such as the precariousness of work, lack of materials, equipment and the minimum staff that compose the municipality's Housing Space. It is emphasized that the housing issue is not a priority of the previous ones and the current municipal management. Esta pesquisa foi possível a partir da inserção no Campo de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório I, II e III do curso de Bacharelado em Serviço Social no Espaço habitacional de Abaetetuba. Este espaço vem desenvolvendo a Política de Habitação no município desde o ano de 2009 através da execução dos Programas Habitacionais Minha Casa Minha Vida Urbano e Rural, Habitação de Interesse Social e Cheque Moradia, e visa o equacionamento do déficit habitacional no município e a promoção de melhores condições de moradia aos munícipes. Partindo desta premissa este estudo tem como objetivo descrever a forma como a Política de Habitação está instituída em Abaetetuba, assim como pretende apontar o quadro situacional de habitação, os assentamentos precários, seus efeitos sociais e implicações espaciais no município. Buscou-se analisar os avanços obtidos e as dificuldades enfrentadas para a institucionalização da política habitacional no município, os Programas Habitacionais implantados e se houve equacionamento no déficit habitacional do município desde a implementação desta política no município. Para alcançar tais objetivos foi utilizada a metodologia da pesquisa qualitativa, através de levantamento de referenciais bibliográficos e pesquisa documental no Espaço de Habitação do município. Também foram feitas entrevistas com a gestão municipal, equipe técnica e a Coordenação do Espaço de Habitação de Abaetetuba. Como resultado da pesquisa percebeu – se que a política de habitação tem se desenvolvido de forma fragmentária desde sua institucionalização no município e sua efetivação não tem alcançado os objetivos e princípios gerais da política nacional de habitação, ocasionando reflexos sociais, segregação, ocupações irregulares, ausência de mobilidade urbana, degradação ambiental e um desenvolvimento urbano de improvisação. Não existe Conselho Municipal de Habitação e tampouco um Plano Municipal de habitação. Destaca-se que além da institucionalização parcial da política habitacional no município, os profissionais envolvidos enfrentam outras contrariedades na efetivação da mesma, como precarização do trabalho, falta de materiais, equipamentos e a equipe mínima que compõem o Espaço Habitacional do município.
