The objective was to evaluate parameters of the growth performance of piauçu (Megaleporinus macrocephalus) juveniles fed diets containing levels of chicken hydrolyzed protein (CHP). The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design, with five treatments and three replicates, for a period of 60 days. The fish were fed to apparent satiation, four times a day, with five test diets, one control diet containing fish meal (0.0% CHP) and four diets with increasing levels of insertion of chicken hydrolyzed protein in place of fish meal (composed of 2.5; 5.0; 7.5 and 10.0% CHP). At the end of the experiment, the fish were measured, weighed and counted, and the data obtained were submitted to analysis of variance (ANOVA) and polynomial regression analysis at 5% probability. Quadratic effects were observed for final length (3.28%), length gain (3.12%), specific growth rate for length (2.97%), final weight (2.90%), weight gain (2.91%) and specific growth rate for weight (3.50%) of the animals. The different diets did not influence uniformity of the batch and survival of the animals. Therefore, the use of 2.90% to 3.50% of CHP is recommended for greater animal growth. |
