The central objective is to identify and analyze the meanings and significance attributed to the school by the children about the educational activity of the rural school, Vila Jordão Community, Bonito municipality, Pará state, and its relationship with school performance. Methodologically, this is a qualitative approach with field research carried out between March 3 and 11, 2022. The research participants are children aged between 7 and 10. In order to listen to the subjects, we used different approaches that complement each other: bibliographical research, drawings, observations and listening to the students and their families living in the area. We anchored the study in theoretical references from the field of education, childhood and rural education and the following authors: Caldart (2004), Freitas (2005); Ferreira and Nunes (2014), Evangelista and Marchi (2022), among others. The research showed that the children want a school that offers meaningful learning with elements of their play culture, respecting their traditions and the time they have to be children. It is also important that the rural school is a fundamental space-time for human formation, existence and peasant resistance. Este trabalho acadêmico sobre processos educativos na escola do campo, resulta de estudos e diálogos promovidos pelo Núcleo de Estudos e Pesquisas sobre Infâncias, Educação e Cultura na Amazônia Paraense, associado ao Projeto de Pesquisa - As gramáticas sociais de crianças e suas infâncias em territórios de águas de regiões da Amazônia paraense CNPq/MCTI/FNDCT, despertando em seus membros o interesse de ouvir o que as crianças dizem sobre a escola em que estudam e quais os seus sentidos e significados. O objetivo central é identificar e analisar os sentidos e significados atribuídos à escola pelas crianças acerca do fazer educativo da escola do campo, Comunidade de Vila Jordão, município de Bonito, estado do Pará e sua relação com o desempenho escolar. Metodologicamente trata-se de uma abordagem qualitativa com a realização de pesquisa de campo compreendida entre os dias 3 a 11 de março de 2022. Os participantes da pesquisa são crianças, na faixa etária de 7 a 10 anos. Para realizar a escuta dos sujeitos utilizamos diferentes abordagens que se complementam, pesquisa bibliográfica, desenhos, observações e escuta com os alunos e as famílias residentes nesta localidade. Ancoramos o estudo em referenciais teóricos da área da educação, infância e educação do campo e os seguintes autores: Caldart (2004), Freitas (2005); Ferreira e Nunes (2014), Evangelista e Marchi (2022), entre outros. A pesquisa demonstrou que as crianças desejam uma escola portadora de aprendizagens significativas com elementos de sua cultura lúdica respeitando sua tradição e o tempo de ser criança.
