Estuarine-coastal communities depend on mangrove natural resources as they practice and depend on artisanal fishing, an activity that is influenced by climate change. To better understand this influence, it is increasingly important to include climate diagnoses to identify community demands in relation to the necessary adaptation to future changes. Thus, the main objective of this study was to know social perceptions about climate change in estuarine-coastal communities, through their local ecological knowledge (CEL), using approaches practiced in citizen science. The present study was carried out in the Araí and Vila do Bonifácio communities, located around and within Marine Extractive Reserves (MER) in the northeast of Pará. The questionnaire was applied using the ArcGIS Survey123 application, which is based on a standardized local observation protocol, using participatory Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools. Of the 190 local observations recorded on the impacts of climate change identified, from the CEL, it was possible to map climate perceptions, also known as Ethnoclimatology. Citizen science was a strategy to identify the climate needs and demands of communities and to mobilize estuarine-coastal communities, allowing them to take a leading role in decision making and building solutions appropriate to the local context. |
