These behaviors, which are widespread for historical reasons, political, cultural and economic. And, finally making a parallel with the female behaviors throughout history and how this paradigm was deconstructed of patriarchal society over time. In this sense, literature is an important instrument to rethink principles and values taken as absolute, in the case of this theme, specifically with regard to the universe of women. Having as theoretical contribution to bibliographical research based on Massaud Moisés, Jacó Guinsburg among others, which prove the veracity of the study. Este trabalho intitulado como o comportamento feminino no romance romântico do século XIX: a idealização romântica de Mariana, em Amor de Perdição, de Camilo Castelo Branco, instigou-me desde o ensino médio, em que pude conhecer o romance romântico do referido autor, e da escola literária a qual o mesmo pertenceu. Nele será traçado um breve estudo do autor e do próprio enredo, salientando as características evidentes no texto, no que compete a personagem Mariana, através de trechos, em que se observam tais aspectos, e ainda levantando considerações das atitudes dela, relacionando com isso, as evidências com os perfis das mulheres do século XIX e da atualidade. Comportamentos esses, que se difundem em muito por questões históricas, políticas, culturais e econômicas. E, finalmente fazendo um paralelo com os comportamentos femininos ao longo da história e como se desconstruiu esse paradigma de sociedade patriarcal no decorrer do tempo. Neste sentido a literatura é um importante instrumento para se repensar princípios e valores tidos como absolutos, no caso dessa temática, especificamente no que diz respeito ao universo das mulheres.
