In the Amazon, this culture is quite popular, due to our basically indigenous origin providing knowledge on how to use these medicinal plants. In the present work, the most popular medicinal plants among the 150 riverside families, descendents of quilombolas, who live on the Ilha de Itacuruçá Baixo, in Abaetetuba Pará, were investigated. Aiming to identify the most used species and their indication of use so that a folder could be generated to disseminate this knowledge, in addition to being able to propose the creation of a medicinal garden for the community center on the Island of Itacuruçá-Baixo, since resorting to alternative medicine turns out to be the fastest way for this community, which is three hours and thirty minutes from the municipality of Abaetetuba, where it seeks access to hospitals, urgency/emergency, that is, to traditional medicine resources. The ethnobotanical survey was carried out through the application of 50 questionnaires to island residents who indicated 64 species, with the most cited for therapeutic uses eight species that were: rue (Rutagraveolens), anador (Justicia pectoralis), boldo (PlectranthusbarbatusAndr.), aloe vera (Aloevera), catingademulata (Tanacetovulgare), lemon balm (Melissaoficinalis), ginger (Zingiberoficinalis), mint (Menthapulegium). All of these are easy to grow and use efficiently, making it important to have them easily accessible. As plantas medicinais vêm sendo utilizadas há séculos pela humanidade, em busca de curas e prevenções de doenças do corpo físico e do espiritual. Na Amazônia, essa cultura é bastante popular, devido a nossa origem basicamente indígena proporcionar conhecimentos sobre o modo de utilização destas plantas medicinais. No presente trabalho foram investigadas quais as plantas medicinais mais populares entre as 150 famílias ribeirinhas, descendentes de quilombolas, que residem na Ilha de Itacuruçá Baixo, em Abaetetuba Pará. Tendo como objetivo identificar as espécies mais utilizadas e sua indicação de uso para que assim fosse gerado um folder de divulgação para repasse deste conhecimento, além de poder propor a criação de uma horta medicinal para o centro comunitário da Ilha de Itacuruçá-Baixo, já que recorrer à medicina alternativa acaba sendo a maneira mais rápida para essa comunidade, que fica a três horas e trinta minutos do município de Abaetetuba, onde busca macesso aos hospitais, urgência/emergência, ou seja, aos recursos da medicina tradicional. O levantamento etnobotânico foi realizado através da aplicação de 50 questionários a moradores residentes da ilha que indicaram 64 espécies, com as mais citadas para usos terapêuticos oito espécies que foram: arruda (Rutagraveolens), anador (Justicia pectoralis), boldo (PlectranthusbarbatusAndr.), babosa (Aloevera), catingademulata (Tanacetovulgare), erva–cidreira (Melissaoficinalis), gengibre (Zingiberoficinalis), hortelã (Menthapulegium).
