Resumo:
This study aims to describe the aspects involved in the functioning of the National School Feeding Program (PNAE). This is an integrative literature review, with articles published from 2013 to 2023, in Portuguese. As a guiding question was used: What are the aspects involved in the operation of the National School Feeding Program (PNAE)?. It was obtained from the Brazilian Virtual Health Library platform, which allowed access to information sources: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrievel System Online (MEDLINE), COLECIONASUS, Bibliografia Brasileira de Odontologia (BBO), Sec. Est. Saúde SP and Health Information Locator (LIS), from the descriptors: PNAE, Brazil, School Feeding. 12 complete articles were used, which answer the guiding question and respect the inclusion and exclusion criteria. It was observed that the PNAE is a very important public policy, despite its defects and negative points. Careful attention should be paid to what can be improved nd take ahead the satisfactory characteristics, so that it can be seen more and more as a great reference to the food and nutritional security of children and adolescents.
