The aim of the research is to discuss the importance of knowledge of the local culture and its influence on school students' knowledge and how teachers use this knowledge to advance the learning process aiming orality through field research, analyzed the use of these methodological resources for professionals Sao Tome School. To the study development was performed the literature review to describe the theories that addressed the agrarian question and the rural environment, the teacher educational training partner amid changes especially the rural community center Camurituba so having an understanding of the pathways that lead to this type of education quality. On field research conducted in school São Tomé, a questionnaire was given to two teachers and two students and their answers brought relevant placements about the complexity of teaching academic content without loss of their familiar knowledge, because these communities to their cultural influence is very strong with children becoming a challenge to teachers. These questionings that formed the basis for the present work. Este estudo propõe como tema a cultura local e o processo de ensino e aprendizagem no campo da oralidade a partir da uma perspectiva do professor e do aluno. O intuito da pesquisa é abordar a importância dos conhecimentos da cultura local e sua influencia no conhecimento escolar dos alunos e de como os professores se utilizam desse conhecimento para avançar no processo ensino aprendizagem visando a oralidade, através da pesquisa de campo, analisou-se a utilização desses recursos metodológicos pelos profissionais da Escola São Tomé. Para o desenvolvimento do estudo foi realizada a revisão bibliográfica, a fim de descrever as teorias que abordassem a questão agrária e o meio rural, a formação docente, em meio a mudanças sócio educacionais e, em especial, da comunidade rural Camurituba Centro, tendo assim a compreensão dos caminhos que levam à qualidade dessa modalidade de ensino. Na pesquisa de campo realizada na escola São Tomé, foi aplicado um jogo para trabalhar com os alunos a diversidade cultural e um questionário com duas professoras e dois alunos e suas respostas trouxeram colocações relevantes sobre a complexidade de ensinar o conteúdo escolar sem que haja perda de seu conhecimento familiar, pois nessas comunidades a sua influência cultural é muito forte junto às crianças se tornando um desafio aos professores.
