In this scenario, this project aims to analyze medical students’ knowledge and adherence to the use of LARCs, as well as their perception about medical education on the subject. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study, developed at Medical School of the Federal University of Pará. It included legal age female students, properly registered in the second, sixth or twelfth period, who had already started their sexual life. Data were obtained through a questionnaire and represented in Microsoft Excel® 2013 and analyzed in Bioestat 5.3. The majority of participants were at the age between 18 and 25 years old, mixed race, single, and had access to health plans. The majority used a contraceptive method, especially oral contraceptives, and there was a global lack of knowledge about LARCs. Furthermore, the participants' perception highlights to the deficit in the teaching regarding such methods in the academic curriculum and in the personal physician. So it was possible to identify the lack of a proper approach regarding the variety of contraceptive methods and the best individualized choice for the patient, perceived during medical graduation and at the clinical practice. Os métodos contraceptivos reversíveis de longa ação (do inglês, LARCs) apresentam diversos benefícios no controle contraceptivo eficaz e na facilidade de uso, entretanto observam-se barreiras a sua adesão entre as universitárias, inclusive das ciências da saúde. Nesse sentido, o presente trabalho almeja analisar o conhecimento e adesão ao uso de LARCs entre estudantes de medicina, além de avaliar a percepção das mesmas em relação à educação médica sobre o assunto. Tratou-se de um estudo descritivo transversal, desenvolvido na Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal do Pará. Foram incluídas as acadêmicas maiores de idade, matriculadas regularmente no segundo, sexto ou décimo segundo período, que já haviam iniciado a vida sexual. Os dados foram obtidos através de questionário e representados no Microsoft Excel® 2013 e analisados no Bioestat 5.3. As entrevistadas eram, em sua maioria, pardas, solteiras, entre 18 e 25 anos e possuíam acesso a planos de saúde. A maioria fazia uso de método contraceptivo, sobretudo o anticoncepcional oral e houve uma deficiência global no conhecimento a respeito dos LARCs. Além disso, a percepção das participantes aponta o déficit no repasse de informações a respeito de tais métodos tanto no currículo acadêmico quanto do médico pessoal.
