Resumo:
This research aims to reconstruct the history and memories of the João Bonal Apostolic Center, philanthropic institution of a religious nature that develops socio-educational actions aimed at underprivileged children, adolescents and young people in the municipality of Anajás, located in the center of the Marajó archipelago. Founded by the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Santa Ana in 2003, this institution offers several free and quality socio-educational activities for the local community, playing a major role in the training and rescue of subjects who are excluded, the margins of society. In this context, the present work seeks to know and record oral narratives about the history and memories of this Center, discussing their contributions to the social formation of the subjects served. The study will also address other questions, such as: What do people tell about the history of the João Bonal Apostolic Center? What do they hold in their memory? What does the institution represent for its beneficiaries? What are the social, cultural and educational contributions of this institution to the local community? This research is characterized as exploratory with a qualitative approach. With the primary source of data, the oral narratives of several interlocutors who know the institution closely. In addition to data and information from documentary sources such as record books, reports, projects, diaries, iconographies and an audiovisual documentary.Its analysis categories include the history of education and educational institutions, school culture, pedagogical practices. Based on theoretical bases and foundations of renowned authors such as: Saviani (2006), Nosella and Buffa (2013), Libâneo (2007), Nora (1993), Julia (2001), among others. The results showed that the researched institution provides different life experiences for its visitors, through relevant educational practices that provide subjects with a chance for social transformation. The research also points out the importance of the institution to the local community, as it plays a fundamental role both educationally and socially, rescuing and contributing to the training of students who are in a situation of social vulnerability.
