This Course Completion Work has the general objective of proposing the use of Geogebra to calculate the area of polygonal regions. To do this, firstly, we bring some aspects of the historical development of area calculation from ancient Egypt to the modern era. Next, we show the definitions, theorems and postulates of plane geometry that underlie the area calculation. Furthermore, we talk about the context in which we live, demonstrating why to use Geogebra and digital technologies in education. We present a tutorial on how to calculate the area of polygonal regions in the Geogebra software as well as apply the Pick Formula in the same program. Finally, aiming for application in basic education, we leave an example of an activity using Geogebra to determine the approximate area of a region contained on a map.
