This is a qualitative study that includes a comprehensive literature review and an essay on historical research to enhance the teaching of history in the early years of primary school. In this way, the results show that valuing local history in the early years of elementary school is of paramount importance to ensure the formation of students' socio-cultural and historical identity, because through this, students have the opportunity to learn about their own history, their ancestral roots and the traditions that continue to the present day. The conclusion is that the integration of local history into history lessons is crucial for an integral education and for the constitution of students' historical and sociocultural identities, requiring careful implementation that includes adequate teacher training and collaboration with the community. Considerando-se que a disciplina História agrega conhecimentos imprescindíveis para a construção da identidade sociocultural e para o exercício da cidadania de alunos e alunas em processo de formação na educação básica, o presente artigo discute o ensino de História nos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental, sob a perspectiva de valorização da história local e da memória de moradores das próprias localidades em que os/as discentes estão inseridos, assim como, correlaciona a partir de relato de experiência a Festividade do Bom Odori em Tomé Açu com o ensino da história local . Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa que inclui uma revisão bibliográfica abrangente e um ensaio de pesquisa histórica para potencializar o ensino de história nos anos iniciais do nível fundamental. Desta maneira, os resultados, apontam, que a valorização da História local nos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental é de suma importância para assegurar a formação da identidade sociocultural e histórica dos estudantes, pois, por meio desta, os alunos têm a oportunidade de conhecer sua própria história, suas raízes ancestrais e as tradições que perpassam até os dias atuais.
