Presents the profile of the professional who acted as a Brazilian Air Force Librarian Officer in the year 2015. It presents the Brazilian Air Force, quantitatively and qualitatively characterizes its Librarian Officers, identifies and characterizes the sectors in which they operate and activities developed by them, identifies the competencies and skills that these professionals perceive in their work in this institution, and these goals have been achieved through with descriptive and exploratory research, with data obtained from a questionnaire sent electronically to the Librarian Officers. It reviews bibliographies that deal with the professional librarian in aspects related to its conceptualization, formation and work space. It concludes on the librarians in question the following profile: they were predominantly female; they had an average of 30 years; they operated mostly in southeastern Brazil; for the most part, qualified and specialized; had external experience, prior to FAB, the majority in specialized library; within the FAB the majority acted in some type of information unit, being that of these the majority worked in specialized library; developed several activities within the library technique, not prevailing one, and they find some difficulties to carry out these activities; consider as main skills to carry out their activities in the field of information technology and the mastery of another language and as main competencies to be leader, to be good communicator and to be a planner.
