Exploitation had attracted the worldwide attention, including Brazil. Currently, because of unconventional resources USA is one of the most important oil producers. This work aims to study the role of unconventional resources in the context of Brazilian oil policy. Firstly, it must differentiate between conventional natural gas reservoirs from non-conventional ones. Secondly, it shows the main characteristics of reservoirs, with emphasis on non-conventional reservoirs, showing their formation and lithology. Thirdly, it presents exploration technique called fracking method, which is usual for such reservoirs. Fourthly, it explains the current situation of shale gas in Brazil after the 12th round, its main basins their potential and estimated reserves. Fifthly, the work ends showing the current situation of unconventional gas in the Brazilian market, benefits and barriers for the exploration and production, and an analysis of the environmental risks and what is necessary for an optimal exploitation of such energy resource in Brazil. Fatores tecnológicos e econômicos geraram uma revolução no setor petrolífero, a partir da exploração do shale gas (gás em folhelho). O sucesso dos Estados Unidos na exploração de suas reservas de gás natural fez com que os recursos não convencionais ganhassem maior importância, atraindo a atenção de muitos países, inclusive o Brasil. Este trabalho busca fazer a diferenciação entre os reservatórios de gás natural convencional e não convencional para, em seguida discutir as principais características destes tipos de reservatórios, dando ênfase aos reservatórios não convencionais, mostrando como são formados e a que tipo de rocha eles estão associados , além de falar sobre o método fracking (fraturamento hidráulico), utilizado para a exploração desses reservatórios. Posteriormente, mostra-se a atual situação do shale gas no Brasil, as principais bacias com potencial para exploração com base nos resultados da 12ª rodada de licitações, assim como as estimativas de reservas brasileiras. Ao final, o trabalho pretende mostrar a situação atual do gás não convencional no mercado brasileiro, avaliando os benefícios e as barreiras existentes para a exploração desse recurso, fazendo uma análise dos riscos ambientais e das condições necessárias para o aproveitamento desse recurso energético no Brasil. 2018-12-21T14:34:12Z 2018-12-21T14:34:12Z 2017 Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso - Graduação COSTA, Joice Daise de Sousa.
