Resumo:
It analyzes the Brazilian Government’s basic sanitation information system and its importance for the management of the sector, observing the quality, access and applicability of information recommended in the National Basic Sanitation Policy. The research was bibliographic, documentary and exploratory, with a qualitative approach to contribute with the necessary actions for the best performance of the sector. In the analysis of the information flow was verified the need to improve the registration and availability of data in real time in the current National Sanitation Information System (SNIS). The information flow was analyzed and verified that it needs to improve the registration and availability of data in real time in the current National Sanitation Information System (SNIS). Furthermore, the delay in implementing the National Basic Sanitation Information System (SINISA) has hampered the collection, obtaining, systematization and dissemination of information in the planning and management of the sector. It was concluded that SINISA is an opportunity to adapt the current information flow to the objectives and needs for the effective development of public policy in the basic sanitation sector in Brazil.
