The research aimed to map the number of indigenous students with disabilities enrolled in schools in the state of Amazonas between 2007 and 2017 and the type of care that indigenous children in the municipality of Humaitá - AM receive. The guiding question came from the following problem: what are the shortcomings of indigenous children enrolled in village schools and how are they addressed? To elucidate our objectives we are guided by the qualitative approach of the case study research. For data construction, we conducted a bibliographic research and data analysis of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP) as well as interviewing the coordinator of indigenous school education of the Municipal Secretariat of Education to analyze the care for people with disabilities in indigenous villages of the municipality of Humaitá. The research in question was based on current legislation and various studies Jannuzzi (1992) Mazzotta (2005) Ferreira (2001) Sá (2014) among others. The investigation revealed that the interface between indigenous education and special education in legislation is recent in Brazil and that there has been a significant growth in the number of indigenous students with disabilities enrolled in indigenous schools in the state of Amazonas. However with regard to specialized care is still precarious. Este trabalho aborda a temática da Educação Especial e Educação Indígena. A investigação objetivou mapear o número de alunos indígenas com deficiência matriculados nas escolas do Estado do Amazonas entre os anos de 2007 e 2017 e o tipo de atendimento que as crianças indígenas do município de Humaitá – AM recebem. A questão norteadora partiu da seguinte problemática: quais as deficiências apresentam as crianças indígenas matriculadas nas escolas das aldeias e como estas são atendidas? Para elucidar nossos objetivos nos guiamos pela abordagem qualitativa de pesquisa, do tipo estudo de caso. Para construção dos dados, realizamos uma pesquisa bibliográfica e análise de dados do Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP) como também entrevistamos a coordenadora da educação escolar indígena da Secretaria Municipal de Educação para analisar o atendimento destinado as pessoas com deficiências nas aldeias indígenas do município de Humaitá. A pesquisa em questão foi fundamentada na legislação vigente e nos diversos estudos de Azevedo (1996), Carvalho (2007), Gil (2002), Barroco (2008), Brasil (2008), Ferreira (2001), Honora e Frizanco (2008) Jannuzzi (1992) Mazzotta (2005), Kidney (1977), Klinta (2001), Marchesi (1996), Sá (2014) e Saviani (2000) entre outros. A investigação revelou que a deficiência intelectual possui o maior quantitativo de matrículas nas aldeias e a interface entre Educação Indígena e Educação Especial na legislação é recente no Brasil e que houve um crescimento significativo do número de alunos indígenas com deficiência matriculados nas escolas indígenas no Estado do Amazonas.
