Resumo:
The study aimed to analyze the bibliographic productions on the main factors associated with excessive and insufficient weight gain during pregnancy, published between the years 2011 to 2020. The research was carried out in the following databases: Google Scholar, Periódicos Capes, virtual library Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). Articles that met the inclusion criteria were selected. The evaluated results showed a strong relationship between the factors: income, age, low weight, education, occupation, smoking, alcohol and drugs, overweight and pre-gestational obesity with inadequate weight gain during pregnancy For a pregnant woman, diet can be severely affected for objective reasons, which interfere with the availability and access to food, socioeconomic conditions, psychological conditions and bodily experiences. This eating behavior can negatively affect nutritional health, making the Nutrition professional see the pregnant woman as a whole, as the world around her will influence her food choices. It is extremely important to continue research on the topic addressed in order to early identify possible modifiable risk factors associated with inadequate weight gain during pregnancy, being essential to allow timely and effective interventions that can reverse or mitigate unfavorable pregnancy outcomes.
