Introduction: functional capacity and quality of life after CVA are key outcomes for independence and the demand for care of the elderly. Objective: we investigated the functional capacity, sociodemographic data and quality of life of post-stroke elderly in the interior of Amazonas. Methods: cross-sectional study with 50 elderly aged ≥60 years, both sexes, affected by CVA evaluated in their homes. The Barthel Index (BI), Rankin (RK), CVA Quality of Life Scale (CVA-QOL) and CASP-19 were applied. Results: 72%(36) were male, 36%(18) were 70 to 79 years old, 50%(25) were illiterate, 30%(15) were independent, 22%(11) had severe dependence in the IB, 28%(15) had no significant disability by RK, 36%(18) had moderate to good quality of life with CASP-19, however in the EQVE-AVE 58%(29) showed low quality of life. Conclusion: the elderly have low education and income, are dependent, experience losses in family and social integration, in addition to impaired autonomy, mood and personality changes, and limitation of their functional capacity. |
