Resumo:
Chromatography is a chemical technique used to separate mixtures. It is can be prepared in flat or inside column. Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) is planar technique efficient and practice by selecting compounds and ability to display visual concepts of substances present in a plant material. The present work aims to show the pigment separating by TLC with alternative materials. This innovating is chromatographic plate support using recyclable and alternative materials. Maceration was extraction method was using the pigments extracted from the Justice acuminated leaf popularly known as "sara tudo", using as starter phase the starch (gum) which is a product extracted from mandioca; and as a mobile phase, a mixture of fat remover and acetone. The chromatographic mixture demonstrates a simple, economical and reproducible teaching tool, both in classroom and laboratory. The use of easily accessible materials allowed the selection of pigments extracted from the “sara tudo” sheet with good resolution and easy answers. During an experiment, it was possible to see visibly separation of the pigments. Thus, the use of this technique provides the student with a more direct contact with the concepts involved in chemistry teaching and, and it can be used to science and biology classes in an efficient way, related to the students' reality.
