Economic development has brought with it population growth, urbanization, and the technological revolution, and this has led to changes in people's lifestyles, production, and consumption patterns. In view of this, it was necessary to open a debate on environmental issues. With this, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development was held in order to discuss the impacts of development on ecosystems and on the population's health. One of the points addressed at the conference was the environmental impacts resulting from the different forms of solid waste disposal, which offer risks to human health. This is at the mercy of the municipal public administration, which has the responsibility of managing solid residues, from their collection to their final disposal, which must be environmentally safe. In countries such as the United States, Japan, and in the European Union countries several treatment modalities are applied before final disposal. They do this precisely because they are countries that generate a lot of waste in the world, and must increasingly follow strict criteria in order to protect their population from the harmful effects of solid waste. Brazil, during this research, showed itself to be a country with a strong base in management standards to follow the same steps of the countries mentioned above, but the public power still lacks a firm hand in demanding this from large companies, and applying environmental education for the population. To have comparative results between Brazil and other countries, a bibliometric study was carried out. To make these statistical analyses, two programs were used: R and RStudio software, to obtain the Bibliometrix tool. From the data analysis, one can conclude that Brazil has a notion of what should be done, but does not act. |
