The rampant increase in solid waste is closely linked to urbanization of cities and population growth, one of the most worrying is the waste of Used or Contaminated Lubricating Oil (UCLO), due to its high level of danger. Removed from engines, this residue is composed of several pollutants: heavy metals, resins, organic acids resulting from the partial oxidation of the oil, chlorinated compounds originating from lubrication additives, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and among others, in this scenario this work aims to analyze the process of
handling the waste of Used or Contaminated Lubricating Oil (UCLO) generated in Manaus- AM. Specifically, this study will identify difficulties in the UCLO reverse logistics process; understand how the UCLO final destination process works; and propose improvements to the OLUC management and reverse logistics system. This study is methodologically classified as qualitative and descriptive, where a technical visit was carried out in an UCLO recycling company, along with semi-structured interviews with a recycling company and a representative of the Environment Department of the city of Manaus-Am. This work resulted in the number of companies served by the recycler, about 900 companies, and the average monthly and annual volume of UCLO that the recycler receives. The UCLO re-refining process was observed in detail, as well as four main difficulties in the reverse logistics process of this residue. It was possible to know a little about the sampling of the volume of UCLO generated in the Manaus- Am. A report was made with the main issues addressed in the technical visit, presenting the proposals for improvements. It was observed in this work that the feasibility and importance of the re-refining process is essential for the industry and for the market in the Amazon region, taking into account the concern for the environment. |
