Therefore, we observe how the storytelling is developed for 5-year-old children, how the teacher performs storytelling to expand the child's vocabulary and finally identify whether the children's retelling of stories was expanded. To achieve the proposed objectives, we conducted a bibliographic study based on the theoretical assumptions to the studies of Nobrega (2017), Teberosky and Sepulvea (2016), Bussato (2012), Abramovich (1989), Dohme (2010), among others and in the documents: BNCC (2018), RCAEI AM (2019). In the construction of the data, participant observation and the realization of workshops for the Counting of Amazonian Legends were used. By analyzing the data obtained in the research we conclude that storytelling in the school environment is a magical, charming, and inspiring moment for children. Therefore, listening, interpreting, and retelling stories are important moments to contribute to the linguistic development of children, in addition to acquiring knowledge of new words. However, it is necessary to enhance this practice in early childhood education with the intention of stimulating linguistic development and expanding the vocabulary of children. A pesquisa é de cunho qualitativo e aborda sobre a contação de histórias no processo de aquisição e desenvolvimento do vocabulário oral das crianças com o objetivo de investigar de que forma o professor desenvolve o ato de contar histórias, com o propósito de aquisição e ampliação do vocabulário das crianças de 5 anos de uma escola pública de Parintins (AM). Para tanto, observamos como se desenvolve a contação de histórias para as crianças de 5 anos, como o professor realiza a contação de histórias visando a ampliação do vocabulário da criança e por fim identificar se no reconto de histórias pelas crianças se houve ampliação do vocabulário. Para alcançar os objetivos propostos realizamos um estudo bibliográfico com base nos pressupostos teóricos aos estudos de Nobrega (2017), Teberosky e Sepulvea (2016), Bussato (2012), Abramovich (1989), Dohme (2010), entre outros e nos documentos: BNCC (2018), RCAEI AM (2019). Na construção dos dados utilizou-se a observação participante e a realização de oficinas de Contação de Lendas Amazônicas. Ao analisarmos os dados obtidos na pesquisa concluímos que a contação de história no ambiente escolar é um momento mágico, encantador e inspirador para as crianças. Portanto, a escuta, a interpretação e o reconto de histórias são momentos importantes para contribuir no desenvolvimento linguístico das crianças, além de adquirir conhecimentos de novas palavras.
