Resumo:
Poverty is a structural socio-economic problem for the reality of many Brazilians who live in highly vulnerable places. In the Midwest Region, the percentage of the population living in poverty, around 16.8%, makes the region one of the least miserable in the country. Much is due to agribusiness activity, which together with public policies promoted development and investment in urban and rural infrastructure. However, certain elements such as income concentration mask the fact that social inequality, income concentration and poverty are still perpetuated in the region. Thus, we aim to analyze the Midwest Region based on indicators of poverty, inequality and socioeconomic vulnerability, in addition to surveying the public policies implemented to combat poverty and socioeconomic inequality. For this, this work is based on bibliographic and documentary research using secondary data, made available by the IBGE, UN, with the IDHM and IPEA, with the IVS, Gini Index and Per Capita Income, in addition to books and articles considered relevant for the construction of the research. Through the survey, we obtain that the IDHM of the Region is classified as HIGH (0.781); the IVS is LOW (0.241) and the Gini Index that measures the concentration of income and denounces social inequality is HIGH (0.513) in contrast to the high GDP Per Capita. There is a need to seek solutions to reduce income concentration and inequality in view of the need to implement rural productive inclusion actions with sustainable development of family farming.
