The ease of obtaining credit together with a certain lack of control in the purchase of consumer goods and services in general, added to the unlimited needs of many consumers, can lead to over-indebtedness. In view of this, the question is: what factors are related to the impossibility of the manauara consumer to pay all their debts without compromising their existential minimum? The general objective of this study is to verify which critical factors are related to the over-indebtedness of Manaus families during the pandemic period through the identification of the socioeconomic profile of indebted consumers, correlating the socioeconomic variables and the behavioral aspects of the individuals to suggest alternatives to mitigate the delinquency according to with the observed correlations and legislation that can be applied. In order to achieve the objectives, a case study was used with the application of a structured questionnaire with a survey method, which classified the over-indebted participants from the same conceptual point of view: individuals who sought assistance from the Consumer Defense Institute - PROCON-AM. The survey results showed that the factors related to the over-indebtedness of consumers in the city of Manaus due to the COVID-19 pandemic resulted from: unemployment and the difficulty of replacing them in the job market; the types of poorly paid work they do, and the social aspects themselves, such as low level of education, for example. |
