Objective: to evaluate the quality of sleep in women in menopausal transition and its association with the intensity of climacteric symptoms. Methodology: this is an observational and cross-sectional study, with a descriptive character and a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 184 climacteric women aged between 45 and 65 years. Data collection was carried out through a standardized questionnaire prepared by the researchers involved in the research related to sociodemographic characteristics, clinical data and lifestyle habits. The evaluation instruments for sample characterization were: Montrel Cognitive Assessment-MoCA, Stage Of Reproductive Aging Workshop - STRAW+10, Menopause Rating Scale – MRS; Pittsburgh scale. The results of the quantitative variables were presented as means and standard deviation, using the statistical package SPSS® (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), version 24.0 for Windows®, as an analysis tool.
Results: the study showed that 43.3% of the population were women with low education of up to 9 years of study, in which high percentages of severe intensity of symptoms were perceived in all menopausal stages and a greater predominance of poor sleep among women who reported a higher degree of severity of these symptoms. Conclusion: most of these climacteric women had poor sleep quality and severe symptoms. |
