The sewage collection network has significant importance to prevent the transmission of
diseases and help preserve the environment, however, to ensure its performance and,
consequently, its proper functioning, it is necessary that it meets criteria that evaluate its
efficiency and effectiveness. Thus, the present work was developed by means of descriptiveexploratory research, which systematized a set of criteria associated with the technical,
operational, maintenance and institutional dimensions for evaluating the performance of the
sanitary sewage collection system. To adjust the criteria, the study was applied to the section
of the sewage collection system of the Faculty of Technology, located in the Northern Sector
of the Federal University of Amazonas. Based on the results, a criteria matrix was
consolidated, which can be used as a tool to subsidize the service management by those
responsible for operating the sanitary sewage collection system. However, the research
pointed out weaknesses based on the selected criteria indicating the need for improvements
aligned to the design, operation and maintenance of the existing system.
