Bicycle infrastructure plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable urban mobility
and cyclist safety. Geometric design, road surfaces, drainage, signage, and lighting on
bike paths are essential elements to be considered to ensure the safety and comfort
of cyclists. Asphalt coatings used on bike paths can present pathologies such as
cracks, potholes, sinking, disaggregation, slippage, and undulations. These failures
compromise the structural and functional capacity of the pavement, negatively
affecting the movement of users. This study aims to assess the state of conservation
of the bicycle infrastructure on Nathan Xavier de Albuquerque Avenue, located in the
Novo Aleixo neighborhood in Manaus (AM), observing compliance with current
legislation and the preservation of the asphalt coating. The adopted method followed
the guidelines of NORMA DNIT 006/2003 - PRO to determine the degree of
degradation of flexible pavements, and the data were collected through on-site visits
to evaluate the pavement and signage, the geometry of the bicycle infrastructure, and
integration with other infrastructures. The data indicated a moderate level of pavement
conservation, poor signage conditions, and it was observed that, although both ends
of the analyzed bike lane are close to other road infrastructures, there is no connection
between the installed sections. This would allow for greater coverage and mobility for
users of the cycling mode. |
