Objective: To analyze the clinical-epidemiological profile of snakebites in indigenous populations that occurred in the State of Amazonas – Brazil, from 2017 to 2021. Methods: This is a descriptive study, which analyzed all reported cases of snakebite accidents among indigenous people that occurred in Amazonas, between 2017 and 2021. The data were collected from the Ministry of Health´s SINAN without individual identification and calculated using descriptive statistics. Results: 2.123 cases were reported by SINAN. Focusing on males, illiterates, agricultural producers. São Gabriel da Cachoeira concentrated the largest number of notifications. Most cases occurred in the months of January and April. The anatomical regions most affected were the feet, followed by the legs and hands. Serum therapy was administered in most cases, the time between the bite and care was around 3 to 6 hours, and the prognosis mostly progressed towards cure. Conclusion: Snakebites is a persistent health problem among the indigenous people of Amazonas, especially in municipalities with a higher concentration of the respective race. Therefore, the findings indicate the need for a more accurate assessment of the strategies listed for the prevention/control of snakebite in the State, in order to reduce the vulnerability of traditional peoples to snakebites. |
