The present work presents a comparative research regarding the four-point bending
test on cementitious composites reinforced with three types of fibers: sisal, curauá
and jute. The research first presented an overview of the use of composite materials,
as well as the applications of natural fibers, in general, in cement matrices. In
addition to the description of the three fibers analyzed, the analysis of the interaction
between the fiber and the cementitious matrix was also presented, as well as the
mechanical behavior of matrices reinforced with natural fibers in the flexural test. Due
to this being a bibliographical research, three studies were described involving sisal,
curauá and jute fibers, highlighting the treatment of the fibers, the production of
mortar and the composite. Then, the results of maximum tension resistant to flexion
were observed and it was concluded that the composites reinforced with curauá
fibers treated with aluminum oxide and sand, had a better performance in the flexion
test, as a consequence of the better adhesion of the fiber in the matrix, provided by
the treatment carried out and also by the high tensile strength characteristics of the
fiber itself. |
