This article presents the results of an extension activity, developed in two classes of the 2nd year of high school, covering 40 students, at the Escola Estadual Deputado João Valério de Oliveira, in Itacoatiara-AM. Low-cost and easy access demonstrative experiments were carried out on the content of thermochemistry, as it was considered abstract, uninteresting and complex for students. The present study used the quantitative-qualitative method and the activities consisted of five stages: 1) Survey carried out with the Chemistry teacher; 2) Application of the initial questionnaire; 3) Demonstration of experiments; 4) Application of the final questionnaire; 5) Analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. The results demonstrate that the extension activity strengthens the university-school bond and that carrying out experiments helps students learn thermochemistry, contributing to autonomy through scientific perception about Chemistry. |
