Resumo:
Gender imbalances in access to employment and working conditions are crucial issues in Brazil and the world that have persisted for decades. The general objective of this work was to analyze gender discrimination in the formal labor market in Amazonas, focusing on the years 2018 to 2021. Thus, the following specific objectives were defined: analyze the economic sectors in which women and men are inserted and identify the income inequality of women compared to men. A descriptive analysis was then carried out of the microdata extracted from the Annual Information List (RAIS) of the Ministry of Labor, with the following variables: gender, economic activity sectors and income. Furthermore, a bibliographical research was carried out to compose the Theoretical Framework on discrimination in the labor market. The research results showed that, in Amazonas, from 2018 to 2021, the participation of women in the formal job market was lower compared to men in the sectors analyzed. It was also identified that men have a higher income than women, signaling the possibility of discrimination. However, there was a reduction in the salary gap between men and women between 2018 and 2021.
