This research investigates architectural accessibility for people with disabilities in public libraries. Develops a bibliographic and documentary research with exploratory and descriptive approach. The observed data indicate the requirements that the public library must meet to promote accessibility and inclusion of people with disabilities. The theoretical framework presents the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities based on Brazilian law, using the Brazilian Constitution of 1988, Law 13,146 of July 6, 2015, Law 12,587 of January 3, 2012, Decree-law 5,296 of December 2, 2004 and Bill 7,669 of 2006. Regarding architectural accessibility in the library, these are specified in the Brazilian Technical Standards of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards, focusing on NBR 9050:2020, 6118:2004, 9050:2020, 9077:2001, 10160, 2005, 13994:2000, 16537:2016, ISO 9386-1:2013, NM 313:2007, NM 313. The concept of public library, society and its relationship with the person with disabilities is based on several authors and works related to Librarianship and Information Science, also employing the Laws of Ranganathan. Finally, the study contextualizes and highlights possible adaptations and improvements to public libraries, allowing reflection on this space as a diffuser and democratizer of information, understanding its users with their differences and difficulties and providing then barriers and thus promoting access to the physical space of the public library. |
