Resumo:
This study aimed to analyze how teachers in rural schools are instructing 1st and 2nd-grade elementary students in developing reading and writing skills. To achieve this, the following specific objectives were outlined: 1 - Examine teaching practices in the classroom for the instruction of reading and writing to rural school students; 2 - Identify the methods employed by teachers in the learning process of 1st and 2nd-grade students regarding reading and writing; 3 - Present the difficulties faced by students in acquiring reading and writing skills. The research included a literature review on teaching practices in rural schools and the acquisition of reading and writing, as well as field research using observation and semi-structured interviews as data collection instruments. The interview was conducted with a teacher from the rural school. A qualitative approach was adopted to value experiences and obtain more comprehensive data. The results indicate challenges, such as the need to adapt teaching materials to the rural school context and the importance of continuous monitoring of each student's individual progress to ensure the full development of these skills. These findings underscore the importance of a multidimensional pedagogical approach that adapts to the rural environment and respects its peculiarities, promoting equitable and quality access to education.
