Resumo:
This work presents a study on the construction of the Special Theory of Relativity and how it impacts the daily lives of many people through the Global Positioning System. Through the time dilation design, the difference between the time intervals between the satellite and GPS receiver clocks was determined. Considering that, for an observer on Earth, there is a delay of 0.08 seconds between the moment the signal is emitted by the satellite and until it reaches the receiver, the results revealed that the difference between the time intervals perceived in each reference frame is 6.67 picoseconds. Signal delay has been found to have a significant impact on accurately measuring time between satellite and receiver clocks in the context of GPS. These conclusions highlight the importance of this theory in the daily lives of many people.
