The intention is to investigate deaf representation in cinema by analyzing films featuring deaf characters, identifying advancements in terms of inclusion and authentic representation, as well as the challenges still present in this context. The study employs a qualitative approach, conducting bibliographic and filmographic analysis of selected works on the subject. Characteristics such as the authenticity of representations, the presence of deaf actors portraying dead characters, the complexity of narratives, and the contribution of the promotion of deaf culture and identities will be examined. A questionnaire was administered to deaf students in the Degree’s program in Libras (Brazilian Sign Language) Education at the Federal University of Amazonas, consisting of seven questions addressing deaf representation in cinema. Thus, the aim is to present reflections and analyze the influence of cinema, which plays a decisive role in promoting deaf representation. Given this proposal, I believe that the results of this investigation can contribute to a greater dissemination of ideas and cultural values of the deaf Community. Este trabalho visa analisar aspectos da representatividade surda no cinema contemporâneo, destacando os avanços alcançados e os desafios enfrentados pelos surdos. Pretende-se investigar a representatividade surda no cinema, analisando filmes que apresentam personagens surdos, identificando os progressos em termos de inclusão e representação autêntica, bem como os desafios ainda presentes nesse contexto. O estudo utilizou uma abordagem qualitativa, com análise bibliográfica e filmográfica de obras selecionadas sobre a temática. Foram examinadas características como a autenticidade das representações, a presença de atores surdos interpretando personagens surdos, a complexidade das narrativas e a contribuição para a promoção da cultura e identidades surdas. Utilizou-se a aplicação de questionário para alunos surdos do curso de Licenciatura em Letras Libras da Universidade Federal do Amazonas, composto por sete questões que abordam a representatividade surda no cinema. Propõe-se, assim, apresentar reflexões e analisar a influência do cinema que possui um papel determinante na promoção da representatividade surda.
