Developed in the 20th century, JIT emerged as a production and logistics philosophy aimed at providing products and services exactly when needed, reducing inventory, and minimizing waste. The primary objective is to establish a synchronization between production and actual demand, with the purpose of avoiding inventory buildup and optimizing costs. This study presents an analysis of the application of this philosophy within an organization located in the Manaus Industrial District, characterized by its robust production chain, encompassing a vast number of component suppliers for the assemblers and manufacturers present. The research method employed was qualitative descriptive, where, through a case study, we sought immersion in the studied environment, seeking to understand the functioning of supply flows and their impacts on production. As a result, it was verified that the organization has a clear idea of how it wants JIT supply to occur, as all processes, from order insertion to material receipt, are well-structured and aligned with its suppliers, a flow that has been in operation for over a decade. However, there are still aspects that need to be improved in practice, mainly regarding information flow and quality criteria for specific item productions. Additionally, it was possible to identify which item categories are most affected by failures in the JIT process. |
